VISITOR PRACTICE

Getting here without a last-minute scramble

Start with transport, then check the actual entrance.

Arrive by transit

SEPTA’s Independence Mall destination page identifies the L service to 5th Street/Independence Hall. Use SEPTA’s current journey information for your starting point, service changes and accessible stations. The best stop depends on your chosen places and your access needs; do not infer step-free travel from a route name.

Parking needs current rules

Philadelphia Parking Authority lists AutoPark at Olde City at 125 South Second Street. Check the operator for current rates and arrangements. On-street signs, restrictions and payment instructions apply to the space you use. The old domain’s statement about suspended First Friday meter regulations is not a current permission to park free.

Check the entrance

An address can identify a building without telling you whether the exhibition entrance has stairs, a buzzer or a different door. Ask the venue about step-free entry, seating, toilets and busy times before travelling. A quiet daytime visit may suit you better than an evening reception.

A compact arrival checklist

Save your first venue’s address and programme, check service or parking information, identify the entrance and allow a buffer. Keep the organiser’s contact page available. If the first stop is unexpectedly unavailable, use only a backup whose programme you have also checked.
