A MONTHLY INVITATION
First Friday, without the rush.
Find the date. Choose a few exhibitions. Confirm what is open.
What First Friday is
Old City District describes a monthly arts evening on the first Friday. Individual galleries and arts spaces publish their own exhibitions and participation details. A calendar date does not establish one universal opening time or guarantee that every place in the directory is participating.
Choose two or three stops
Start with a medium or question: painting, wood, design or a new exhibition. Check the official programme for each stop, then choose a compact route. Leave time for looking and conversation. You can enjoy the evening without buying anything or completing every address.
Use the current programme
For the next event, read Old City District’s First Friday page and the venue’s own listing. Confirm entry requirements, times and accessibility. The 2003 guide’s hours and parking statements should not be treated as current rules.
A complete planning example
For a mixed-material visit, check Museum for Art in Wood, Pentimenti and Muse. Their current district-listed addresses appear in our directory. If all three programmes fit your date, use the 90-minute route as a planning outline. If one does not, shorten the walk rather than relying on an unverified replacement.
Find a First Friday
Select a month to calculate its first Friday. The date alone does not confirm an event.
