NEIGHBOURHOOD NOTE
Leave room for performance
An exhibition visit and a performance have different rhythms.
The directory’s wider stage
Recovered listings connect the gallery district with theatre, dance, music and multidisciplinary spaces. Painted Bride’s 2007 description combines several performing arts; Temple Gallery’s entry records exhibitions including M. Ho’s All Good News (2004) and Emily Blaskovich’s Ruining It for Everyone (2005). These titles and dates refer to those records, not to a present programme.
Do not treat a performance as a drop-in
An exhibition may permit a short visit, while a performance can require a ticket, a fixed arrival time and an uninterrupted period. Confirm duration, venue, entry rules and access with the organiser. Build your gallery walk around the performance rather than arriving late from an overfull itinerary.
A workable evening
Choose two nearby exhibition stops, allow a meal or rest break, then leave a buffer before the performance. If the programme changes venue, revise the route. A short, well-timed visit is more useful than a list of every space once mentioned in a neighbourhood directory.
Where to find current details
Arden Theatre and Painted Bride publish their own programmes. Read the page for the actual production or event rather than relying on a general home page or an inherited directory listing. No ticket availability, discount or partnership is promised by this guide.
