NEIGHBOURHOOD NOTE
When an arts address changes
Check the institution, not just a familiar street name.
The Clay Studio
The Clay Studio’s primary materials document a new facility at 1425 North American Street opening in 2022. An earlier Old City directory entry points to a different chapter of the institution. Visit the studio’s current visitor page for exhibitions, courses and attendance details; do not use an old brochure to book travel.
Painted Bride
Painted Bride’s own account describes a move away from Vine Street in 2022. Its events and project spaces can have different locations, so a single inherited street address is an unreliable guide. Open the page for the specific event you intend to attend and confirm its venue, time and access arrangements.
Moderne Gallery
The domain’s 2008 directory listed Moderne Gallery at 111 North Third Street. Its current contact page lists 1705 North American Street, Suite 3. A changed address does not mean a programme has vanished; it means a neighbourhood route and an institution’s current identity must be checked separately.
Atwater Kent and the Philadelphia History Museum
The former Philadelphia History Museum closed in 2018. Drexel became steward of its collection in 2022, and a digital collection followed. A dated directory entry for a museum building should not be treated as evidence of a walk-in museum operating there now. Consult the current collection and exhibition information.
A five-field check
For any familiar name, confirm the exact organisation, current address, event date, attendance requirements and accessibility contact. Save the official page, not just a map pin. If two official pages disagree, contact the organiser before making a journey.
